RE: UPDATE: COVID-19 IMPACT ON DF/HCC BRIGHAM PATHOLOGY CORES: CLINICAL TRIAL-RELATED SERVICES

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the BWH leadership has implemented the shutdown of all research cores; however, the Director of the Brigham Pathology Cores has successfully petitioned for permission to remain open to enable provision of services that support clinical trial-related work only, which will be carried out by a sharply reduced number of personnel. This may lengthen turnaround time but should enable critical clinical trial-related work to get done. We are awaiting additional guidance regarding new Core hours. This page will be updated as soon as this information becomes available.

DF/HCC Pathology Cores Administrative Office:

Effective immediately, all Harvard administrative personnel are required to work offsite. Lauri Wyner, DF/HCC Research Cores Manager will continue to be available via email at lauri_wyner@hms.harvard.edu as usual.

Specialized histopathology services- longwood, and tissue microarray & imaging:

For non-clinical trial related work, the Cores will stop accepting new work requests on Wednesday the 18th, followed by shutdown of non-clinical trial related work as of 12 p.m., Friday, March 20th. For clinical trial-related work, materials/work requests can be handled as per usual. Please coordinate with tbowman@partners.org and bferland@bwh.harvard.edu to set a time to pick up your materials [unstained slides, H&Es, scrolls] once you receive notification that your work request is complete. You should practice “social distancing” by limiting your time and interactions when you pick up your materials.

If you have questions regarding existing requests already submitted to the core, or questions on how best to preserve your samples until we are back to “business as usual”, please email tbowman@partners.org.

We appreciate your cooperation. As of now, the expectation is that this situation will persist for at least six to eight weeks. I will post regular updates on the Harvard Medical Area Core Management System webpage at https://pathcore.hms.harvard.edu.
