MGH CNY Zebrafish Cooperative Core

The MGH CNY Zebrafish Cooperative is ~ a 3000 sq. ft. Aquatics facility located on the 4th floor of Building 149 in the Charlestown Navy Yard. With more than 5000 tanks, the goal of the Cooperative is to provide access and a cost sharing plan to distribute the aquatics facility overhead expenses. Investigators are charged a “per rack” rate based on monthly use. Facility charges reflect costs associated with routine maintenance, replacement costs for broken equipment, brine shrimp and rotifers, and salary support for facility staff.  The rate for Low Density (LD) racks is proportional to charges of High Density (HD) racks that have 25% greater capacity.  Common nursery space is shared among all investigators and is not subject to per rack charges. The core intends to run revenue neutral and adjust its yearly budgets when expenses run above or below the projected budget. Core use and membership requires approval by the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Cooperative.
