**We will be operational until Friday March 20 at 5:00 and will then close operations in accordance with Partners/BWH guidelines. We expect to be closed for at least 6 weeks. Thank you for your continued use of our core and please stay safe.**
The Seahorse Core supports the use of an XFe24 Extracellular Flux Analyzer from Seahorse Biosciences to perform sensitive measurements of oxygen consumption rate and extracellular acidification rate in cultured cells, tissues, or model organisms in a 24-well format.
Director: William Oldham, M.D., Ph.D.
Administrator: Rick Bowman
Facilites and Equipment
Location: Harvard New Research Building 631, 77 Avenue Louis Pasteur, Boston
Hours: M-F, 8-5; Two assays run per day (morning and afternoon).
Equipment: XFe24 Extracellular Flux Analyzer, Prep Station
- Basic Assay – core provides assay plate and assay cartridge – user provides samples in the assay plate, assay medium, and injection reagents
- Glyco Stress Assay – core provides assay plate, assay cartridge, Seahorse medium with supplements, and Seahorse reagents – user provides samples in the assay plate
- Mito Stress Assay – core provides assay plate, assay cartridge, Seahorse medium with supplements, and reagents – user provides samples in the assay plate
All services include use of the Seahorse Prep Station liquid handling system and non-CO2 incubator, cartridge hydration on the day prior to the assay, and technical assistance. Users are responsible for preparing media and injection reagents, performing media exchanges, loading the assay cartridges, running the assay, and analyzing the data. All new users require training.
